Why do some adults still throw tantrums? Is it immaturity? Drug or alcohol abuse? Mood disorder? Or some other reason? Like when someone gets mad at a spouse for nothing and will not accept an apology made in good faith? Or, like when someone gets mad, leaves, and says they are never coming back -- but shows up later after they've cooled off. Do such people just like the thrill of being angry? Are they drama queens? What's the reason for that kind of behavior?
Please note: This is a discussion, not a debate. Does anyone have any insight into that sort of behavior?

I think frustration for being out of control fuels this behavior more than anything else.

People get angry and sometimes they get so angry they say things they don't mean.
If an adult were lay on the floor, kick his or feet, bang his head, and so on like a 2 year old and do this regularly, then I would say that they are either emotionally childish, mentally ill, or on some kind of drugs or something. If they say mean things or slam a door or stomp out of the house, I would say that the person is just letting off steam and once cooled down will return to normal. One thing I don't like is when someone won't forgive another person when that person has apologized and made reparation. That, for some reason, annoys me.

I think it has to do, in part, with how in control of their lives people feel themselves as being.

I think it is because you just get so mad sometimes, that you don't know what else to do, so you throw a fit, and then when you think about it later, you are like, "I could have handled that better..." and then you come back. When you are really angry, you don't always think clearly... So it might be an anger problem...
I've been told before that I have anger issues...

I think it can be a sign of immaturity, and effects of drugs and alcohol too. But I really do believe its a control issue, some people really feed off being the controller and manipulating the situation so it suits them. Its once they realise they don't have that control they tend to spit the dummy.
