I might be mistaken but I've heard a cat can get pregnant from more than one male? Come to think of it, it's possible in humans too. I know a woman who did and had twins, each from a different dad!

UPDATE
The kittens were not to be found yesterday. I had to mow the lawn and trim the hedges in the front yard and our new neighbor got my attention and asked me if I noticed the kittens on my front porch and I admitted that I was keeping an eye on them. She explained that the mother cat belonged to the neighbor behind her (which I recognized in name) and that the mother cat had moved the kittens under my porch because the two little children that lived in that house, were giving the kittens too much attention. She went on to explain that originally there were four kittens and that one passed away and that the surviving kittens were already spoken for and that they would all receive new homes but that still didn't stop me from missing them. So someone came onto your porch, set traps, caught the kittens, and distributed them to new homes?
Something smells fishy here.... Why is your neighbor letting an unspayed cat roam the neighborhood and breed indiscriminately? |

I once lived in a house of someone else's and kept hearing mewing one day. I went into the cold damp basement to find 3 newborn kittens. One in a window sill (the window was broken and ajar which is how a momma cat must have gotten in), the other behind the broken washer and another inside an old mattress. No mother in sight and they looked like they had been given birth to and abandoned. I took them each upstairs and put them in a large shoe box with an old shirt of mine to wrap them and keep them warm and I took them to a vet. They were infested with fleas and extremely tiny and skinny (even for newborns). He did what he could and gave me some formula and a syringe, but highly doubted they'd survive. They needed to be fed by syringe every 2 hours. As I had to work 6 to 8 hours a day I asked my roommates to help out to feed them while I was at work. Even though they said they would, they didn't. Within about 5 days they were all dead. One didn't last the first day, one I had a hard time getting to eat, the one that lasted the longest had a good appetite but with not being fed while I was gone it just wasn't enough. That one hit me hard and made me mad as hell at my roomies. Had they helped me that one might have survived. Instead, I lost all of them. So heartbreaking to watch.
