So, I've got this huge king sized comforter, 3 cats, and a hubby who is allergic to cat hair, and I'm not so good with dust. Both of said allergens stick like mad to the comforter, and I have no idea how to get it off. The vaccuum doesn't work well, I'm not sure the thing will fit in the wash, and I'd probably have to go through about 10 of those little lint roller brushes before I cleaned the whole thing.
Can I take something like that to be dry cleaned? Will dry cleaning even remove animal hair?

It's simple, the husband's gotta go.

Eeek! Maybe you could get a duvet cover and clean it regularly so you don't have to put the whole comforter in the wash (though I would do that occasionally anyway).

Don't let the cats come into the bedroom.

If it's a feather comforter it will absorb all these allergins and you'll never get them out. It's best not to let any allergins come into contact with it.
Dry cleaning will temporarily, largely remedy the situation but that will last less than a week with constant animal contact.

It's a decorative comforter, and artificially filled. He's allergic to down too.
![]() It's got this faux suede thing in patches, and around the edge. That's what the fur is getting stuck to. Lint rollers seem to do the trick, but I was hoping there was a better solution (I'm new to this housekeeping thing..) ^^

I'd pick up an anti-alergin fabric freshener. They work very well, as far as I'm aware.
You can also buy the clear, plastic wrapping tape. It's much cheaper and works even better than a lint roller. You could also buy a clear, plastic cover for your comforter if that doesn't destroy it's whole purpose in your mind. You can also sleep with another sheet over the comforter instead of having it on top.

Has your husband looked into getting allergy shots? I've taken them for most of my life (I started when I was a baby and weighed enough to safely get them as I had horrible allergies when I was little) and they've really helped. I'm allergic to only a few of the allergens I that I was allergic to before. I'm not longer allergic to animal dander and feathers anymore, which is good as I have a dog, three cats, mice, horses, budgies, chickens, and a cockatoo (and fish, tortoises, and a snake, but those aren't allergens, haha, though I am allergic to the fish's food).
At this point vaccuuming is just a symbolic gesture. Allergy shots don't really hurt, either. They're given with a very small gauge needle (like an insulin needle) and usually in the back of the arm.
