Exactly my thought on the matter. I'm not too big on Barbie, but then again, I'm a dude. I was happy with legos and army men. Barbie may not be great, but definitely a better choice.

I've watched the cartoon. While in itself, it is benign, the look of the Bratz themselves is what little girls like. They become adament about having the dolls and parents that don't pay that much attention or just want to get their little girls what they want will go ahead and buy them. This is why I was so happy tht my eldest daughter was a Barbie girl, you know? She had Barbie everything. A friend of mine had a daughter that wanted a Bratz doll last year or so and she wouldn't get it for her. However, her mother did...boy was my friend not happy.

Barbie, hands down. Yes, she has an unrealistic figure (which they've taken steps to improve in recent years), but have you taken a look at those Bratz dolls? They've got a severe case of lollipop head for starters - tiny stick bodies with this great big melon of a head. Not to mention their collagen implant lips. And quite apart from anything else, if you lose Barbie's shoes, at least she still has feet!

I'm a chick and I loved my legos and Star Wars figurines. But I tended to play with those with my guy friends, and with my Barbies with my girl friends.

I loved legos! You could get really extravagant with those things. Heck, my mother still has some of her own and she will occasionally build small dollhouses with them.

There are parents I know that won't let their children have Barbie dolls for the same sort of reason. Unrealistic representation of the female body.

I've always been more of a castle builder. And since they started making Star Wars lego, I've expanded my collection more as an adult than I could ever afford to do as a kid. Haven't pulled it out and played with it for a couple years, though.

I never played with dolls.. seen as though am a guy etc.. yet those bratz make as though all girls HAVE TO LIKE shopping, makeup etc.. where as Barbie was a working class kinda person.
