Who Are Your Favorite Movie Stars?

Others have talked about Peter Sellers.
Another great is Gene Wilder.
For both of these guys, it's because of a certain "darkness"/complexity that shines thru.

As for people alive today:
Keanu Reeves, because he is sooo dreamy. And yes, I know he can't act.
Anthony Hopkins, because he's the best character actor alive right now.
Denzel Washington - handsome, generally good actor, edgy
Johnny Depp - generally handsome, good actor, edgy
Robin Williams!!! - did you see him in Insomnia and One Hour Photo??!

Emma Thompson - as good as Anthony Hopkins
Jodi Foster
Hillary Swank

I have to agree with you on a couple of those - Gregory Peck was unreal. I absolutely loved him as Atticus Finch, in "To Kill A Mockingbird".

I'll also "Amen" the Sir Anthony Hopkins nod, as well. If you have never seen it, you ought to rent a movie from the late 70's - called "Magic". He plays a ventriloquist that gets taken over by his dummy. Great movie, and a preview of the talent that he has. He also has a hilarious role in a movie called "The Road to Wellville" - he plays a bucktooth charlatan in the mid 1800's.

Which brings me to my next favorite actress who shared that particular movie with Mr. Hopkins. Ann Margaret (Tommy, Kitten With A Whip, Tiger And The Pussycat, Viva Las Vegas)



Say what you will about her acting or her singing but I didn't even care if she opened her mouth. They don't make women like that anymore.

There are certain books and movies that shape you as a person; To Kill a Mockingbird was one of them for me (and I know for a lot of other people too). And Gregory Peck was just so totally convincing as Atticus; he made him real for me. I learned afterwards the Peck as a person mirrored his character in his commitment to racial equality.

Thanks for the tips! Sir Anthony is awesome! After he did Silence of the Lambs, I thought to myself, that's it; the dude is typecast for the rest of his life. I couldn't imagine that I would ever be able to see him as anything other than Hannibal Lecter again. Then I saw Remains of the Day, and at the end of the movie realized that he had so perfectly captured the reserved English butler that Hannibal never crossed my mind. Then I saw him in Nixon and was stunned again. He is the one actor that can get me see a movie just because he's in it. I won't even do that for Keanu.

Agreed. Her nude scene in Carnal Knowledge is awesome!
