I tried desperately to resist, but my ego has won. Help me remain in my suffering and ask me anything about this strange and Richard Gere-obsessed woman whom you call MysticSang'ha.

Why haven't you added a webpage to your profile yet? (that's a nice easy harmless one to start with.....wait for the rest!!!)

MysticSang'ha, as a Tibetan Buddhist I would assume you consider the Dalai Lama your equivalent of the Pope, would that be correct?
If so, would you consider him an infallible authority on Buddhism? Do you approve of the way he so readily associates himself and Buddhist beliefs with Science? If the assumption is incorrect, pls forgive me... ![]() |

Quite correct, except I subscribe to the Dalai Lama as being the incarnation of Avalokiteshvara - the Buddha of Compassion - and that he is not given that title by a vote of his peers. However, they are alike in that he is considered to have the best understanding of the Gelukpa lineage's teachings of the Buddha Dharma. Much like how I always saw the Pope as having the greatest understanding of church doctrine and practice and therefore deserving of the title and the responsibility. Quote:
Since he is not my personal guru, I would never consider him to be infallible. I do consider him to be the best authority in the tradition that I practice, however. Quote:

How long have you been a Buddhist for?
Have you practised Tibetan Buddhism since you became a Buddhist or was that a choice you made later on?

Around 12 years. Quote:
It was a choice later on. I began studying the Zen tradition due to reading most of the books written by Thich Nhat Hanh and going to the Zen centers in my area for meditation practice. It has only been around 2 years that I have been studying and practicing the Tibetan tradition. Peace, Mystic |

I positively LOVE Richard Gere!!! Okay, so my first question is: What is your favorite Richard Gere movie? Mine is "An Officer and a Gentleman." I start to just thinking about him striding into the factory looking like a million dollars, swooping Deborah Winger off her feet and walking out with her in his arms, in front of all her co-workers. My whole family teases me over this obsession. I also thought "Shall We Dance?" was pretty cute, as chick flicks go. But, when I say your thread, I actually had another question in mind. You may have answered it before, but if so, I missed it. How'd the production of "Chorus Line" go? I want to hear all about it.
