How would you explain why some people are far luckier than others? Or is luck a matter of perspective?
For instance, I was born to a middle class couple in Southern California. I'm good looking, get enough to eat, don't worry too much about personal safety, have plenty of leisure time, and education enough to know that I'll never be poor. I'm not gloating, but I would consider myself far luckier than, say, your average child born in Uganda. On the other hand, maybe I'm not quite as lucky as someone like Johnny Depp. How would you explain this? Are all people really "created equal"? |

They forwarded the chain letter like they were supposed to. The ones who broke the chain have bad luck follow them the rest of their days.

I think it depends on how bad you want something and how hard you are willing to work for it. Most people in dire straights think the world owes them something and they think they deserve "the American dream", so they sit and complain and do nothing. Others on the other hand are motivated by poverty and do something about it. Personally I was destined to be an electrician just like my father, cold winters, hot summers and lots of beer after work but I didn't want that life and I chose to go to community college for a year at night until I could get enough credits to get into a real university. I became a monk and studied very hard and graduated from an ivy league university. I followed the path I chose, I made my own luck, no one gave it to me, come to think of it no one ever gave me any thing (material) I seem to be the one always giving.
