How long has RF been around and who are some of the founding folks around here? Would be nice to know some of the backgrounds of the people responsible for this site that has so many people talking.(typing)

I seem to remember it was founded a little over two years ago in April of 04. I joined on the second day of July of that year. Maize was here before me, as well as (I believe) Jayhawker Soule, Ceridwen, Runt, and some other people I'm a little foggy about this evening. Those folk, then, were here when the mountains were young and the rivers ran clean. Pah came about the same time I did. When Mike get's his history up and running, there should be some interesting tales in it.

Oh lordy... ![]() Rex started RF in March 2004 when he couldn't find a forum dedicated to fair and unbiased discussion of all religions. All the forums out there seemed to be run the with purpose of futhering their own religions and only talked about other religions to discount them. RF was quite small to begin with. We've grown quite a bit. We started out with one mod per forum. For example, Engyo was Buddhist, so he was the Buddhism mod, I was the UU mod, ect., any forum that didn't have a mod, Rex modded and the rest of us helped out. Back then there wasn't much moderating to do, so our task was to beef up our forum with information. As the forums grew, one moderator for each forum was getting difficult to fill so we switched to the what we have now; mods modding everywhere (or pretty much everywhere). A few of us who were among the first mods were promoted to Super moderators when some mods were brought onto the staff. We were to teach the new mods how to moderator and help out Rex with the forum development. Wanna know how I came to be an Admin? Rex when on vacation and wanted to leave someone in charge who had access to the Admin CP in case something needed to be done. When he got back, he never reduced my rank back down to Super Mod. By then he was spending less and less time here because of his very busy personal life and not long after that he sold the forum to Todd. We've continued to stay true our goal of providing a place where members of every religion and belief can gather and fellowship and a place where all ideas and beliefs can be discussed and debated in a (hopefully) civil environment. If we hadn't held true to our orginial mission, I wouldn't still be here.
