Has anyone had this procedure done? How did it work out for you?
I'm having a consultation with a doctor tomorrow to see if I qualify for it. I have TERRIBLE vision, so it's time I checked it out. I have done some research on it, and it seems okay. Has anyone had it, or heard of any difficulties with it? I'd like to be able to see after this ![]() |

I hear that if the doctor isn't careful, the lazer will pierce through your eye and not only will it make you permantly blind, it will damage your brain and maybe even kill you.

Nope, sorry don't know anything about this procedure. My eyes are getting a little bad now. It's a strange thing for me to have to wear reading glasses. ![]() |

I have thought about it. But then again, I have went 5 years of being slightly near sighted in one eye, and severely near sighted in one eye (any more than two feet is blured), I have actually gotten use to it. Even passed my vision test for my drivers liscense without glasses or contacts. I can say though, it was nice when my friend tossed me his glasses so I could see the score during a bowling game, and I could actually see the screen without having to squint and piece together what the score was.

I know one person who has had it done and they went from being practically blind (we're talking really thick glasses here!) to almost 20/20 vision. This was with one of the less expensive procedures, but if you want to spend a bit more money then you can have a higher expected rate of success and (I believe) improved vision at night, which may still be a problem after some procedures. My eyesight's not great and I've been looking into having this done. I was a bit worried about the long term effects, but after doing a bit of research it seems that there's nothing to suggest it may cause problems later on. Good luck if you do decide to go ahead with it!

I hear it doesn't last very long. That people who have had corrective surgery ended up with just as bad or worse vision later on. I'm not sure the time frame on this, though. It might be worth it.
