My grandma(mother's side) passed on a little before I was born... I looked and it wasn't in any resource.

Hmm...I seriously am willing to help anyone, just PM me with a name and dates (could be either marriage, death or birth, all three would be great) and I can do some research on them and look on some other sites. I'm really into family history, so I can dig up some data for you.

I finally got it to work! That was really fun, Soyleche. Thanks for posting that.

Now, a laugh for the day (inside joke between us LDS posters)... As I was looking through the list of categories of famous people (presidents, European royalty, inventors, LDS apostles, etc.) I came to the very last items on the list. It said, "Three Witnesses." For some reason, I read, "Three Nephites." Let me tell you, I was really impressed there for a couple of seconds.

For all those who need an AFN (ancestral file number).

Type your names onto this page: All Resources, if you have not already done so, and if it bring up several different people with your ancestors name, then choose your relative from among those names, and click on your relatives name, and it will bring up his/her full record, with the AFN (ancestral file number).

If your relative's name is not there, there are two reasons:

1) Your ancestor has not been deceased for more than 100 years, and by law, you would have to submit it into the system yourself.

2) Your ancestor has been deceased for more than 100 years, but volunteer geneological workers have not yet entered your relatives into the system.

The LDS church members volunteer many hours of their time, in order to enter records of people from around the world, that have been deceased for more than 100 years, and I had the opportuntity to take part in this, for about three months. It is an enormous task and an ongoing process, that really has no end. This is why the LDS church asks it's members to research their own geneology (especially those that have been deceased less than 100 years, because by law no one can touch these records, unless a living relative gives permission).

My wife is a convert to the LDS church, she used to be catholic, and she did an enormous amount of research on her family, when she first joined the LDS church. I kid you not, she had 2000 names, which I felt compelled to type into my home computer. I submitted 2000 names but only 200 were accepted, because they were incomplete records, lacking the proper information, for instance no birth or death date, or they could not be linked to any other individual, so we could not differentiate them from another geneological abcestral record with a similar name.

It was a lot of fun. For some reason I really enjoyed it, even though it is repetateve and time consuming work, I felt an enormous amount satisfaction in completing her geneology, that she had started.
