I have been contemplating taking a break from RF for a month or two because lately I have been getting agitated and have been taking things too personally in certain debate topics. But I realized that there are two many people with funny and interesting threads that have nothing to do with debates that I would miss too much. So I am just going to avoid certain topics with words like GLBT (or any variants) and abortion in them.
So my question to you all in an attempt to make an interesting thread is, does anyone else avoid sensitive topics like these or take breaks from them for a while? Please note: If anyone turns this into a debate I will run over to Feathers house, steal her tuna and flog you about the head and shoulders with it .

I like your posts, Turk, and would miss you if you left. So, please don't.
I really don't get worked up over any topic very often; and on occassion when I do get worked up, it doesn't last long. Perhaps that's because I very seldom expect to change anyone's opinion in a debate. Without that expectation, there's no point in caring about whether there's a winner or looser to the debate, and instead, I just sit back and enjoy posting my own opinion and reading those of others. The debates in RF, even on hot topics, are just conversations to me, and I like conversations. I hope this helps.

I have for those reasons also, but alas, this is my addiction.

When I think about stuff that bothers me here in bed at night, at work or when I'm trying to listen to someone, it's time to take a few days off. When I get back in the mood I usually start off with lighter topics. I haven't been in any heavy debates for a while now.

I can certainly understand that, Turk! I go for months avoiding such threads when it tires me out.
For me, though, I'm really enjoying a lot of the threads that we have going right now! There seems to be a nice balance of discussion and debate topics, and I'm having a lot of fun. Everybody goes through cycles, though, so I can relate!
