I did take a breather for a while I guess. Combine being constantly tired in first trimester with same old same old as Jeffrey put it and it was time for time off.

I'll post in the occassional "hot topic" thread, but after a while they just get me to the point of . Due in large part to the people that do the monotonous posting of the same stuff over and over. You just get to the point you realize that you aren't getting anything across to those people. They provide no support of evidence...just the same fist pounding over and over. It's great to take a breather once and a while. but I'll take my breather in other, more entertaining threads from now on.

Incredibly well said. I'd sooner read a post by someone who happens to disagree with me on a subject and does so politely than a post by someone who agrees with me and states it in a way that is rude or unkind to someone else. It's all in the presentation!

(Hope others will chime in and support Dawny, too! I know this thread wasn't made with making her or others feel bad in mind!)

Mentioned by who? I don't recall ever getting worked up by anything you've said.

And I'll echo agreement with Sunstone's post. After reading his comments I realized that I usually get annoyed by the three topics that I listed because someone comes in all pompous and dismissive, and that gets my goat more than anything else. If people are respectful and ask questions rather than assuming and condemning then it's really not a problem. I don't think anyone here wants to blame anyone for wanting to talk about a topic that interests them.

i don't avoid any topics, i have to read most of them as a Mod.... but some i do find i get very agitated with, and when i am agitated, i tend to loose my ability to debate, and tend to use phrases like "your oppinion is silly, and i don't agree with it!"

besides, if you left, we'd set Draka onto you

Dawny, what Sunstone said is exactly the cause of any stress or anxiety that I felt. he hit it right on the head. It is quite welcomed to debate with someone in an atmosphere of mutual respect. Although we don't normally post in the same debates, I look forward to having a difference of opinion with you because I know you are not going to try to insult anyone or say anything to try to make people angry just for the sake of winning a debate. I feel very bad that my thread made you feel like a loser because you are one of the least likely to cause anyone any harm on this forum. Whether I agree with you or not, you are kind and respectful to everyone here and that means a lot.

Y'know, I have given that advise to several people on this forum and I have only taken that advice once. It is the equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears and doing the 'la la la! I can't hear you' tactic. Quite good advice right there. Makes me feel a little better already.
