Do you all ever wonder if other RF members perceive you as something totally different than what you really are? I was wondering what other members perception of me was and it got me thinking if anyone else wondered about that. Has anyone ever had a perception of someone that you determined was way off?

I think it happens all the time, even in real life. Online, we usually only let people see what we want them to see----as we do in real life when we don't know someone really well. It's not until you have an established, close connection with someone that you let them see the 'real' you.

The biggest misconception I get about RFers, is that there are a lot of you here that I thought were way older than you are. You guys are soo smart.

I maintain that we should have an RF convention to ascertain if our perceptions are true or not!
![]() It's hard, since I don't know what people's perceptions of me are well enough to know if they're right or not. I don't really try to 'present' myself as anything other than who I am, my feelings, beliefs and respect for my fellow members. I think, ultimately, our impressions of each other are probably true- perhaps closer to reality than normal face-to-face interaction might be. For example, Turk, when I first physically met you, you seemed a very quiet sort, one with a lot happening behind his eyes but not necessarily ready to blurt everything out that they're thinking. But when I'd been in the same room with you for a few hours, I could certainly see the great, playful spirit that is so evident here on RF. So I think that the impression of you on the forums is the 'correct' one! For more outgoing types, like the lovely Draka, I think it's more readily apparent that their personality matches their manner. She was and is every bit as lively and willing to state her mind as she is here on RF! (And I admire anyone who can freely state their mind, since I seem to be a bit short on that skill!)
