A poll in the British Isles has found that "nearly two thirds of 18- to 24-year-olds believe in the power of horoscopes, compared to just over a third who swear by the Bible, a survey of 3,000 people has found".

I get mine sent to my inbox every day, but it's more for a laugh than anything. Since it arrives after I have already left for work, my day is nearly over by the time I read it...so I read it more to see if there was anything in it that was accurate, more than reading it to see how my day will be. And I don't take it seriously lol.

Horoscopes are rediculous.
They say things like: You will breathe today |

I see in your future...an ivory obelisk...you are walking toward it...ah...you will raid the fridge sometime tonight...that will be 4.85...the spirit world thanks you...
Daily horoscopes are written so that they can apply to anything that happened to you that day will coincide with it. While astrology signs can give you an accurate profile of a person, daily horoscopes are along the same lines as fortune cookies. |

LOL. Yeah, along with Bastet and Maize--I read mine for fun. My problem is that I can't ever remember it as the day goes on!

I'll occasionally read mine for fun. Sometimes, though, something will jump out at me and I'll notice it happening during the day. Could be, though, that my perception is based upon what I'd read.

Producing an accurate horoscope involves not just your date of birth, but year, time and place. Most people go entirely by their sun sign, completely disregarding - if they are even aware of - the fact that there is also a moon sign to consider, as well as one for the other 8 planets in the solar system, an ascendent or rising sign, and a midheaven sign. There's no way - unless it's been plotted particularly for you - that a horoscope can even hope to be accurate (except by chance). Even so, my specifically plotted one today tells me both that I'm pretty much going to be a sarcastic cow to everyone I meet (though now that I think of it I was pretty sarcastic to the other half this afternoon - but he's not everyone), and that my mind will be particularly sharp. So sharp I couldn't even remember my own phone number this afternoon. September 13th mentioned the chance of a new romance (I haven't finished with the old one yet), but neglected to inform me that the guy whose landscaping we had just finished the previous Friday would then refuse to pay for it.
I thought that was rather lax of it not to have picked that tidbit out of the stars.

I don't follow my horoscope. Once in a while I read it. I don't want to be influenced by anything I read about it.

Lady_Lazarus,
You seem to be very knowledgeable about horoscopes. I personally don't know much about them, but am interested in how they work: how can you tell a person's future from the planets, etc.? Is there science behind it?
