I'm just wondering how many people here have attended a religious school or are at the moment. Religious meaning there is a dominant religion practiced at the school or the school is funded by that religion.
I currently attend one of the BYU's (wooo!!) I go to BYU-Idaho( http://www.byui.edu) and love it. I'm just wondering if anyone else had any experiences they wanted to share, or how they liked the religious schools they have attended?! |

Four years at Wayland Baptist University
Two years at Southwestern Seminary Now at Brite Divinity School (Texas Christian University) I love every minute of every day at WBU and TCU. I could have lived without SWBTS, but it was absolutely needed to get me where I am. I did enjoy some classes there, but WBU and TCU eclipse those experieces by far,

Well, I went to a conservative Lutheran school between the ages of 9 and 14. For the most part I did not enjoy it. But I can't say that it was completely bad. Even tho the school emphasized fire and brimstone, it also taught me Jesus' parables of love. Kinda schizo.
Now I'm finishing a masters program at Georgetown, a Jesuit Catholic university. I love them! The undergrads are on average a little too privileged and sheltered for my tastes, but the school itself emphasizes knowledge, service, and mutual respect between different faiths. I couldn't ask for more.

I never went to a religious school (for which I must count my lucky stars), but my dad went to a Catholic school when he was young and hated it because the nuns were mean and the kids were really snobby and for the first few years of my brother's schooling he went to a Lutheran school and when my mom switched him to public schools, she seen how much the Lutheran school set him at an academic disadvantage. |

I'm actually going to chime back in here, to talk and put in a bit for my school. I love it, yes, it is an LDS university, but not exclusivley. There are people of other faiths that attend here, not many, but they are here!!
![]() I love it here, because I am around people of my faith daily, in class we can pray without repurcussion, and we take secular subjects and integrate them into the Gospel. Like we can take geography and talk about how God created the world. I love it. I wouldn't trade this for anything. |
