I have a bit of (almost) everything in my music collection...music from just about every decade since the 1930s, plus classical (which of course goes a bit further back than that
 ). I love 60s music, some 70s, I'm an 80s music freak (you can thank lady_lazarus for that, since most of it I heard thru the bedroom wall as a kid), some 90s (I stopped listening to popular music for a few years in there). Not a fan of much of the 'new' music around these days, since much of it is remakes of 80s songs (and I prefer the originals). Can't like hip-hop or techno, but I have some metal and rap. I like older country music, but I've got to be in the mood to listen to it (as with any music really). My two favourite bands are the Beatles and the Bee Gees.

I alternate mostly between alternative rock and rap/hip-hop, but I like most kinds of music, even the stuff that no one else likes, like country. Basically, I like clever lyrics so if I can't understand them or there are none, or they are inane, I'm less likely to care for it. That said, there are some really great instrumentals and some really silly love songs that I love.
Favorite artists are way too many to name, but right now Eminem, Nas, 50 cent, Disturbed, NIN, and Tool are on my playlist. I'm perhaps in not so great a mood after the holidays and for some reason listening to other people's anger always makes me feel less of it.
