I see alot of people change perceptions and opinions over time from posting on here. I would love to hear your stories and confessions, specifically:
1) Has RF changed your perception of God? If it has how? Which posters and threads had strong impacts on you? 2) Has RF changed any of your political opinions and if so which ones and how? Which threads and posters? If you could find the links you are referring to and paste them it may be a way to reincarnate some thought provoking threads. Plus its neat to hear about people growing here on RF. |

1. My perception of God and religion hasn't changed, but RF has helped me become less ignorant about other faiths and religious people in general and has broken lots of stereotypes I had of certain faiths, for example Latter-Day Saints. I am glad that I have come to RF in order to become more knowledgable about religion and religious people and am thankful that I am becoming more accepting of people with different perceptions on religion.
2. My political opinions haven't changed a whole lot at all and none of that minute amount of change has to do with RF, although sometimes Darkdale's posts make me evalute my positions/opinions, but my position/opinion rarely changes or doesn't change that drastically. |

Mine has changed alot. I cannot copy and paste from a phone, so bare with me. This forum allowed my wife to express who she is and what she believes in, opening my eyes to something new. Finding my own path, not someone else's The people that have influenced me the most are my wife 1st, then Michel, mike, Fluffy, Feathers, Turk, Are the main ones. I have learned from so many, both good and bad.

People that I have learned from for the good are many. You, Rob, for one, along with Linwood, Maize, Chris, YmirGF, MV. Sey, Mr Guy and many more I cannot name right now.

It is not likely that ReligiousForums.com will succeed in changing any of my core belief or secondary belief structures. That is not why I am here anyway.
I simply like the great interactions between people and seeing their ideas, warts and all, for the world to see. It is rather fascinating, and highly addictive. Most importantly, it is the people. Jayhawker, Michel, MV, Kreeden, Halcyon, Neheustan, the diminished LDS crew, Faint, Darkdale... and a host of others. Absolutely fascinating OPINIONS. Heck, the trip to RF was worth it just to discover the amusing wit of Crispy, Mr. Guy, Seyorni et al LOL. Take a well deserved bow everyone on RF, you are all great.

Excellent questions Robtex.
I have not been here long enough for anyone's teachings or opinions to affect me in religious or political manner but I have started to form opinions about the people themselves if that is a valid assertion to your question! Though I am a practicing Christian, I am continually questioning and seeking further truth in regards to who God is. I find divergent opinions regarding religion fascinating ...and I learn a lot along the way as well. Hopefully in time I'll be able to better answer your great questions...I'll have to bookmark this thread! |
