I know this won't apply to everyone, but the thread about "what do you wear to Church?" reminded me of a comment my mother once made to me, and whicI have repeated to my children.
I always used to dress up smartly to go out, and wear 'comfortable clothes' (and that usually means well worn in) at home. Mum said to me one day "Why do you dress smartly to go out and meet strangers, while you go about in scruffy clothes for your own family ?"Do you think she had a point ?

LOL Never thought of it that way. I don't get dressed up period. Sweat pants and t-shirt is my norm. I wear that everywhere! .... At least I put my shoes on when going out... And comb my hair!

When I go out to work, go to see friends or family, or just pop out to buy something I wear pretty much the same e.g. DKNY Jumper, Armani Shirt, DKNY Trousers, Loafers, Ermengildo Zegna Tweed Sports Jacket or Jacket, T-Shirt, Gloves, and Barbour if its raining.
Smart Casual is the way forward.

Actually, I love that there's this whole "comfort level" with my close friends and family. So, I wear my scrub muffin jeans and tee shirts proudly around them.

Smart cloths are a facade, a way of projecting an image.
Your family, presumably, have already seen through you and have you thoroughly sussed. Dressing up at home would probably be seen as pretentious. |
