It's a family tradition; Mum came from a very 'Well to do' family (there was Russian Nobility in the blood), and I think it was a British trait from pre war; because my Parents went out to Africa after the war, I guess they got 'caught up in time', my Mother was never 'pretentious'.........

At home, I wear shorts, and a tshirt. My home clothes also usually have holes in them. When I go out, I put on black denim jeans, and black t.shirt, and my trench coat during while its cold, and when its warm, black denim shorts and a black t.shirt.

I wear:

black t-shirts (generally heavy metal or punk bands)
black or blue jeans or camo cargo pants
if I wear shorts, they are long (cover at least the knee), jean cutoffs, or camo
leather treanchcoat when cold or black hooded sweatshirt
Nothing that covers my torso will be any color other than black, pants/shorts will either be blue jeans, black jeans, or camo. Socks will be traditional white, and the long ones that pull up close to the knee, shoes will be basic looking and black, right now I have black Pumas.

I am such a dark individual. No wonder I can't make friends.

The only shirt I have with any phrase on it says "I am NOT a team player." Loved the shirt, didn't like the long sleeves, so I cut those off, and it really peeves my mom off when she knows I wear it in public.

Well, personally, I couldn't care less what anyone thinks of me, family or otherwise, my family should love me enough to not care how I dress and to see past my clothes and strangers, well, I don't know them, so their opinions of me really don't matter. Therefore, I dress for myself. I dress how I feel like dressing, whether in the house or out. If I wake up one morning and feel like walking around in nothing but my bikini, I'll do that. I'll go to the mall like that. If I wake up and feel like wearing a skirt and fishnets, even if I'm just sitting at home, I'll do that.
