I just saw a thread on Avatars and I thought I would ask what your avatar represents or says about you. Mine is of the great Puritan Calvinist Jonathan Edwards . . . one of the greatist minds that have ever existed on the earth. He has influenced great men of Jesus for the last 300 years . . . men like Spurgeon, Boyce, Hodge, Warfield, and more contemporary men like McCarthur and Piper. What about yours?

I chose Mighty Mouse because it sums up my personality pretty well. I do not take myself terribly seriously, and view myself in somewhat clownish terms. It is my feeling that if I did not take this attitude I would quickly plunge into thinking I alone am right and everyone else is wrong. Not too healthy.
The horns and tail were from a request from someone and I thought it added yet another hilarious aspect. IE. I am a devilish little imp. If you met me in real life you would quickly note my rather zany sense of self depreciating humor and quickly wonder if I was EVER completely serious. Dead straight on that one. I am also highly irreverent... as I have said elsewhere. Can one ever be TOO irreverant. I think not. Likewise, my title of Happy Fool ties in directly with this sentiment. It is only in recent months that I have begun to consider just how naive I am. In some ways, it is rather breathtaking. Last, Piltdown Man was a great hoax. I thought that conveyed my overall opinion of religion rather well. (It has nothing to do with my thoughts on creationism as Yasin suggested a while back.) IE: Religion is a hoax, or rather a vastly amusing cosmic joke.

I chose the tiger, from the bases, because of an anime I watch. There is a character, from Fruits Basket, named Kisa. She is born in the year of the tiger and has a tendency to turn into one. In the one episode that is my favorite, she is unable to speak because she's been teased so much. I related to that in a very big way, as I've had problems with that same thing, and have always pulled my problems deep inside of me.
I admired the way that she was able to get through it, and to keep going to school even when she didn't want to. As such, she's become a symbol of the person that I want to be. And in part, I took that as the strength of the tiger. Plus, big kittys are cute! |
