I have an Uncle who is in prison for doing something really stupid.
He's a good guy who is really struggling and I care about him. He wrote in a letter to my Nana that he feels so lost and lonely and wished that the family would write him. So...after prayer...I've decided that I need to. I thought I'd ask if anyone would like to share their favorite quotes, words of wisdom, favorite scripture, etc. (that you wouldn't mind me "borrowing" for a future letter to my Uncle) that you'd give to someone who is generally struggling and is at a crossroads. Thanks...warm wishes and virtual (((hugs))). Also..for those of you who wouldn't mind praying...would you mind joining me in lifting his troubled soul up in prayer?

"The pain passes, but the beauty remains." - Pierre-Auguste Renoir
“Humor is just another defense against the universe.” - Mel Brooks “The world of reality has its limits; the world of imagination is boundless.” - Jean-Jacques Rousseau “When something an affliction happens to you, you either let it defeat you, or you defeat it.” - Jean-Jacques Rouseau “If you hold a cat by the tail you learn things you cannot learn any other way.” - Mark Twain “You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him discover it in himself.” -Galileo Galilei "Success is not measured by what you accomplish, but by the opposition you have encountered, and the courage with which you have maintained the struggle against overwhelming odds.” - Orison Swett Marden “The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it.” - Moliere “The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything its value. I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress and grow” - Thomas Paine “Acceptance of what has happened is the first step to overcoming the consequences of any misfortune.” - William James “To overcome difficulties is to experience the full delight of existence.” - Arthur Schopner “The most authentic thing about us is our capacity to create, to overcome, to endure, to transform, to love and to be greater than our suffering.” - Ben Okri Here are just a few I could come up with. I use www.thinkexist.com to get my quotes, and I looked through the books I'd made with quotes I like. I hope they help, and maybe the site will too. |
