I don't go to the theaters unless there is something worth while to see, and even then I hardly ever go. It's not worth my time. I usually wait until films come out on DVD. "Book of Mormon, Volume 1, The Journey", "Saints and Soldiers, "Marvelous Work and a Wonder", "Gods Army", "Baptists at our Barbeque", "Mobsters and Mormons", "The R.M.", "Pride and Prejudice" (LDS modern version), "Charlie", and I could go on and on. There is a lot more wholesome choices of entertainment out there than those containing sex AND violence, and no I don't limit myself to LDS entertainment.
I can think of a whole boat load of better things to do with my time, than going to a theater, and watching some of the junk that is being produced and sold to the public. There are plenty of other options, you just have to look for them. I will have to say when I go to Hollywood Video it seems to me that 95% of the stuff on the shelves is nothing but meaningless garbage entertainment. Not worth spending two hours of my life on. Disappointing, but to be expected. Heath Ledger has been rather irritated with it.
"I heard a while ago that West Virginia was going to ban it. But that's a state that was lynching people only 25 years ago, so that's to be expected." |

I think if people who just disagreed with the message of the movie didn't watch it would send a clearer message . . . money talks

Heath Ledger: "Personally, I don't think the movie is (controversial) but I think maybe the Mormons in Utah do. I think it's hilarious and very immature of a society."
Since when did Larry Miller become spokesman for the Mormon church? I love it when people show their ignorance as they try and criticize someone else's ignorance. I'll probably think twice before seeing another movie with this guy in it, which is sad because I usually like them. |

Well, the article didn't mention why the owner pulled the film, so I can't comment on his motives. As I stated in another thread on this same story, it is possible that the owner felt his property was in danger from fanatical anti-gay people if the movie was shown. I am saddened that people feel they can't or won't show a movie just because it has a gay theme. There are many, many movies that are not to my taste and I won't go see them, but I do not think the movies should not been shown at all just because it's not my cup of tea.
I wonder how many people who object to this film simply because there are gay characters in it, will shell out $12 to go see a slasher film with blood and gore and murder? Granted, some people like that stuff, but others find it objectionable... should those movies be pulled too?
