Seriously though, there are bigger problems than weed. I would consider alcohol and tobacco both worse than it. At least they result in physical addiction and alcohol nukes your brain.

I've tried nearly everything under the sun, and rather than being longwinded I think I'll try and be succinct (for once):

It doesn't matter what you're using, be it Meth, weed, Alcohol, Ciggies or Coffee. If you need it to get by, then you need to get by it.

Well, If I, ( a person with an incredibly addictive character) can give up smoking cigarettes after smoking 40 /day for near on 30 years, and alcohol (after having drunk far more than was good for me (and in often in secret) for a similar period - off and on, admitedly), then I guess I would argue the above.

I'd agree, micheal. Paint huffing is still the drug of choice for youth on plenty of northern indian reservations. And frankly, having shared an apartment for 4 months with a ravenous crack addict, i'm not sure i'd get behind everything under the sun nor think it recommendable if you "need it to get by".

One thing that I think is obvious here is that more research needs to be done on the effects of marijuana on developing brains. This is an area that has long been neglected. We know marijuana is relatively harmless for adults, but we know so little about whether it is harmful to adolescents.

Just checking Mr Guy... But you realise I'm saying if you need a substances effect to get through your day, you should quit that substance?

If you say so. I feel i need a coffee to get through the day, but perhaps i should quit (NOOO!!). Besides, i doubt you're suggesting some of us stop taking anti-psychotics, blood-thinners, anti-rejection drugs or countless other substances some might think they also need to get by. "Getting by" is the toughest thing to define here, truly.
