I thought it might be fun and helpful to everyone to talk about what system people use for browsing RF and tricks of the trade for RF Navigators.
For starters, my Favorites link takes me directly to the screen where I posted my first instant message. I'm too lazy to change it, and now it has become somewhat comforting, like coming in through the back door. The first thing I do everytime I log on is go directly to my User CP and check for new Frubals. I want to see if I caught anyones attention and I love them things. Then I go immediately to the Active Topics menu and hit Since Last Visit. I look first for any threads that I remember posting on or that are stuck in my head. Once I've exhausted these I continue through the rest and try to get involved in as many as I can. Plenty of topics bore me to death, but I'll still read them if I notice anyone I like to read posting. If I had to give myself a Navigator title, it would be "Active Topics Junky" cause that's the menu I use almost exclusively. Once in a great while I'll use the search options. After I feel like I've exhausted the Active Topics, I find my name and view my profile looking for the Find All Posts By Ormiston. Then I can quickly follow up on any thoughts or comments that I was involved in. I usually only use the sightmap for posting new threads and going to the home page. Anyways, that about sums up my system when I'm on the site. I'd be interested in any advice or instruction anyone has to offer. Thanks!

I use the "since last visit" thing a lot also. First, I'll browse and look to see if there are new posts in the threads that I have posted in (little black dot on the envelope). Then I'll glance at the categories and see if there are any posts in the LDS forum - I read all of these. Last, I'll go through the topics and look at the titles. If a title looks interesting I'll usually just mouse over it and see a little about the topic. If you don't have me by then -or- if you are on my ignore list I usually won't even start reading the thread.
![]() Oh, when I'm skimming I also tend to just ignore any thread about marriage, homosexuality, evolution, and any other topic that I feel constantly has three or four threads going with a few new ones created once a week. Also, if I've debated the subject before I rarely feel the desire to jump in and start debating it again so I usually don't read those ones either. How many times can you really have the same conversation and keep it interesting? Once I've looked at everything I want to look at I check my frubals, check for new posts, check my frubals, check for new posts, until I get bored. Lately I've also been working a little on my webpage once I'm bored of the threads. Now that I have a journal I also check for journal comments too. I'm sure that will eventually make its way somewhere into the routine.

I only look at threads that are (1) interesting and (2) less than 3 pages long. If they're longer than that or just dumb looking, I don't even bother. But if they are interesting, I'll open them and make some sort of post. I follow threads I've posted in until they die. That's about it. Not that amazing.
![]() Oh, and I always start from the top and work my way down. First, "are you new" then "religious debates" etc.

If there is a PM, I usually open that in one window, while then going to 'Quick links' and clicking on 'since last visit'. I open all the threads that look interesting in different windows. (I love multitasking!) Then, I check out my user CP and cross my fingers for frubals. (Like most of us, I don't care about having my frubals increased so much as hoping that someone found one of my posts interesting or that I might have given someone a chuckle.) I then like to check to see if my journal has any comments, too. Once in a blue moon, I'll also add a new entry.

![]() Don't feel too bad, though, jonny. I don't frubal much in the first place, so it's not like I'm giving you significantly less. ![]()

I "navigate" from the email notifications I recieve for new threads (it's an admin thing). First - it's the mod forums (or reported posts) to see if my help is needed. Then the other new stuff. I get to browse my subscribed threads later as a member. All this from my email. When that is done, I usually go to Who's Online and see what others are reading. Meanwhile the email keeps updating and I go to what's hot from email. (I can filiter emails into folders according to forums).
