I have heard mixing chocolate milk and beer isn't a very good idea.

Yeah I've tried cooking chocolate before but it's not smooth enough for a big wuss like me . I stick with my earlier testimonial for Lindt 70% cocoa extra dark. Hey Malus, got any *drool* smilies ![]()

I'm surprised about there being Safeways in Australia too. (I knew there were Starbucks and MickeyD's and Burger Kings, etc.) Kinda sad actually how homogenous we've become.

Starbucks . How to ruin a good coffee in one easy lesson. There are benefits to knowing someone who works there though. My mate used to line up those little shot glasses of coffee on the counter for me. mmmmmnnnnn pure caffeine. Maybe I should tell feathers ![]()

When I was a grad student in biology there was a postdoc in our lab who was from Britain complaining about American chocolate. I laughed at him, thinking that Belgian, French, Swiss, and German chocolates were better than American but a Brit had no basis to poopoo our chocolate. Turns out he went back to visit England the next week and just to prove his point, he brought us back some Cadbury chocolate sold in Britain, as opposed to the Cadbury sold in the U.S. He brought back Wispas and Flakes and something else. I loved the Wispa bars! so light and airy. True, it's still too sweet and cloying compared to fine, dark European chocolate, but it was far better than a Hershey bar. A friend of mine visited London last week and asked if there was anything I wanted. I asked him for a Wispa bar. He came back yesterday and informed me that apparently I had sent him on a wild goose chase. Cadbury doesn't sell Wispas in Brittain any more. ![]() Btw, German chocolate can be good, but then there's Kinder chocolate. blech!! I like the little toys in the Kinder eggs tho! ![]() My favorite is Valrhona from France. yum, yum! Believe it or not, Americans are capable of making good dark chocolate too. Scharffen Berger, based in San Francisco, makes a great bittersweet (70%), much better (smoother) than the Lindt 70%. But my favorite from them is the nibby bar with bits of ground cocoa "nibs" mixed in. And I just recently had some absolutely delicious dark chocolate from a local company in the Chicago area. Blommer choclates names their chocolate blends after locations, and my favorite was the "Sarasota" - dark and rich and mellow with nuanced flavors.
