Need Advice (mission, confess)

My sister came home from school at lunch in trouble with the school authorities. Apparently, she put her hand in someone's coat pocket, and took her key. She was going to show up at the other person's house after school with the key and they all would have had a laugh.

If that had been all. Somehow, twenty dollars and some lip gloss are also missing from her pocket. My sister confessed before getting caught about the key, but she did not admit to the twenty dollars or lip gloss. She confessed after it was found that those items were missing.

My sister is generally quite close to me; we tell each other things that, in general, we don't tell other people. However, I haven't got her alone yet, to talk to her about it. I'd rather this didn't snowball, and drag out. If she did take the money and the lip gloss, I'd rather she confess now.

I just don't know if she did. I have sneaking suspicions, though. She's stolen before, when she was younger. I don't know how to talk to her about it.

Your closeness with your sister may help you out here. I'd go to her and tell her just what you said here....you love her and care about her, you understand how a simple prank might have gotten out of hand and that if she did take the money and lip gloss as a prank, she needs to admit to it now when it's still somewhat easy to fix. Offer to go with her to this other person to make the admission and reparation.

Beyond that, it's really up to her.

I feel for you Dru. It must be difficult to be stuck in the middle of this, but as Melody said, let your sister know how much you care for her, and let her know you'll stand by her. But whatever you do, try not to be judgemental, as difficult as that may be.

I think Melody gave wonderful advice. Remind her of how much you care, and simply ask.
