I had to leave the church I was attending. I just didn't feel like my spiritual needs were being adressed or even considered. Most of the people there were upper middle class, were affiliated with our local college, and treated people that weren't like they didn't exist. My boyfriend also left because he felt the same way. It seemed that these people only cared about money and someone's financial and educational status. One lady literally laughed at me because I attend a junior college in my area. Well, exuse me for wanting to go to a place with smaller class sizes and no fratboy/sorority bullcrap (no offense).
Also, they tended to talk more about politics than faith in general. Well, if I want to hear crap like that, then I'll just turn on CNN and have at it. Totally ridiculous. Oh, for the record, this was a Unitarian Universalist church. I always thought they would treat someone a little better than that, but apparently not. ![]() This makes me wonder if liberals are any better than conservatives, no offense or anything...

I'm so sorry that happened. UUs like to think we're all inclusive, but sometimes we forget. Is there is UU fellowship near you? How large is the the church you attended? Does the church have a CUUPS (The Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans) group that you can contact? Usually the CUUPS will meet at a different time in some churches. If you don't mind me asking, where do you live? Sorry for all the questions...

One other thing I wanted to say... All UU churches are different. I'm sorry this one didn't meet your needs or expectations, but try out another one and see if it fits!

I live in Kentucky and it's the only UU church in my town. They don't have a CUUPS but I sure wish they did. I'd probably stick around there. I think the nearest UU church is in Nashville, TN and I don't want to drive that far lol.

, and I've heard this kind of comment from people who've left churches of many different denominations. Sometimes, churches can get to be like social clubs where people see their friends once a week, and they lose site of the reason they went to church in the first place which should be spiritual needs. I hope you find a way to continue your spiritual development, and maybe one day you will find a another church home.![]()

I realize that you're wiccan. But if you were desperate enough for a church that will care than why don't you try going to a Baptist church some sunday morning.I'm not promising you'll be in a extremely caring church but I can promise you that most of them are very caring.(the people). You could give it a try,I mean what do you have to lose?Peace out!

.... but you may want to consider that this might be the right place for you.I don't know how you relate to your spirituality, but I tend not to question where God leads me.... in this case, you may want to consider that however unsatisfied or uncomfortable you may be, spirits/forces/gods (sorry, don't know what you believe in ) may want you there to help change the attitude of the place. You may also be in that place to help you grow spiritually in a different way that you may have expected.... the forces that guide you may want you to become more solitary in your worship... your spiritual path may need more focus on you as an individual, than as a member of a group. Maybe. ![]()

The UU church in my area, allthough not social-class based, is also heavy on preaching politics. Thats the main reason I haven't gone to it. Quote:

I grew up in Kentucky and just moved to Virginia a few months ago. I know there's not many UU churches in KY, so I understand. I attended the UU church in Lexington, KY. If you're ever up that way stop by. They have a wonderful CUUPS group that is very active and everyone is very inclusive and welcoming. I can say that from experience, not being rich or with the social "in-crowd". They have a wonderfully diverse congregation and I miss them so much! (But I like my new church too here in VA ). If you don't mind my asking, how long did you attend the UU church you left?
