Very interesting step forward, although it's a basic combination of a burgalar alarm and answering machine ( sadly no cooking ) .
I like the fact it will be able to recognise people, I wonder how long it will be until true free thinking machines appear, at least there will be a use for that robotic skin then.

Wow that sure is a lot of cash! I think I'll stick to the girls I have taking care of my home, they're a lot cheaper.....(sssshhhhh, dont' tell them that).

It should'nt technically be that long, if you remember an article, also from the BBC about the 'Grafting' of stem cells onto massive computer chips, where the hope is to produce a replicate of the human mind (at least, a very small part of it).

Just as long as it has no possible way to think for itself. The last thing I would want is to spend 14,000 on a robot, have it turn on me, and then I have no choice but to fix the problem using a sledgehammer.
