I'm just giving you guys a friendly reminder about using PayPal from my first and recent experience with PayPal.
All started 5 months ago when my brother won a state of the art 256mb brand spanking new graphics card at his work. At that time it was selling for around $500-600 and we put it up for sale on e-bay for a reasonable $475. Someone in Argentina became interested and we exchanged e-mails. It was our first time using PayPal and so when he asked if he could use his girlfriend's account to pay for the graphics card but send it to him, we said "why not" and did so. We got the $475 transfered to our account, but after a week, it was frozen and we got an e-mail saying they have to reverse the payment because the payment was from a stolen account. We've put it off until about a week ago when we had to pay the collection agency and couldn't really do anything about it seeing as how the address that we had sent it to is in Argentina. We basically got scammed for a good $475 because we spent that $475 as fast as we got it. I know it's partly our fault for not reading those lengthy contracts and instructions, and i'm just giving you guys a heads up if you are using it or are planning to use it in the future. ONLY SEND THE PRODUCT TO THE ADDRESS ON THE ACCOUNT THAT IS PAYING YOU, NO EXCEPTIONS. Well ... at least now I know who i'm going to give a visit to should I ever travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina. If anyone here lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina or knows someone with huge fists that lives in the same place, maybe you could help me out ... Seriously though ..

I'm sorry you got ripped off like, Neo-Logic.
I'm very wary of offers to buy things from people in foreign countries... it may be country-ist, I suppose, but I've heard of far too many scams by people who say they want to buy something and do exactly what happened to you. |

I cut my account with paypall after receiving a very authentic looking email that was supposed to have come from them - I sent it to them, and of course they agreed it was a trap. What worried me though was the fact that theses tricksters had a lot of details about me right.
So, no more paypal.... ![]()

I've had a Paypal account for about 3 years now (maybe longer)and a business account for 2 years, and while I receive numerous spoof emails (involving Paypal, eBay, my bank, and banks with which I have never held an account) I've never had a problem. In fact, the only time I've ever come close to having a problem was when my bank rang me up not long after I opened my paypal account and asked me to verify the last 3 transactions before they authorised the payments.

This one game I play that is based in Singapore requires you to verify that it is your paypal account by responding to an email they send, and sending them a copy of your paypal reciept. Maybe everyone should start making the buyer verify themeselves when they use paypal.

Also, Paypal, credit card companies, and other large businesses will call address you by your full first and last name when sending an e-mail. Watch out for "dear paypal user, or dear [insert company name] member, as they are often from immatators trying to phish.
