I voted to save my friends & family, I'm assuming these people have earned my respect, I would never sacrifice myself for someone who didn't deserve it, my family & friends probably do.

I would have preferred an "all of the above option." For example, I would hope that I would have the courage to die on behalf of a newborn, 10 seniors, my family, and/or the whole world.
Chances at self-sacrifice are rare; and they usually do not come in a form of our chosing. The more common chance at self-sacrifice (not that it is all that common) is something like trying to rescue someone who is drowning at great personal risk (or rescue someone out of a burning building, or throwing yourself on a tossed hand grenade). In the short span of time that we must make a decision to help or not, I doubt if we'd have time to consider things like "is this person's life worth saving or not? Is it worth me potentially losing my own life?" I would hope that if given the opportunity, I would risk my life to save someone else's life--anyone else's. Peace |

I would sacrifice myself for both C and D, but not A or B. I might sound harsh, but I believe I can do a great deal of good in this world, and for all I know the newborn could turn out to be the next Hitler,Stalin etc.. My point is, I am a known commodity, while the newborn is not, thus I would not sacrifice myself as I believe that if I can live for 20-30 more years I can be in the position to save more than one person. As for the 10 seniors, I know it is harsh, but they are seniors, they are close to death, and I dont believe postponing their deaths for a couple of years is worth my life, once again I believe I can put myself in the position to same more than 10 lives as well. If I turned out to be an ER doctor, I would end up saving hundreds of lives, but I also plan on being able to do more than that. But, if its the world or my life, the choice is easy, since my goal is to do my best to help the world, and without the rest of the world, there would be no point in living, thus I would sacrifice myself. As for option D, this is one time in which my emotions would overrule my thinking, and I would sacrifice myself for my family, friends, and loved ones.
