I'm agnostic, so i'm interested in why you believe (if you believe) that your religion is better in certain ways then other religions.
I'm not trying to start any arguments or anything, I just want a good discussion, if the topic seems stupid or troublesome, then feel free to delete it. Thanks.

Not that mine is better (but it is...hehe) it's just that it feels right to me.

It might be better to ask people why they have chosen the religion they have, and the reasoning etc. behind that choice. This may avoid some of the "holier than thou" stuff which might otherwise arise.
I will answer that question. I became a Buddhist, primarily, because I was told that I could try the practice without any sort of belief being required. Since it is a practice, one can do a "90 day trial" for lack of a better term, and see just what sorts of results the practice can bring. I did this in late 1981. I am still practicing. I know several people who went one better; they began practicing to prove that the practice did NOT work. They are also still practicing. I can honestly say that I did not begin with any sort of belief that Buddhism was the way for me. Now, I know that it is, and I will continue to practice for the rest of my life.

What's better about Taoism? It fits me.
Heheh, kidding. Nothing better or worse about it, I think. The Tao te Ching is just a great source of wisdom to me, and the different ways to translate it are almost endless. It's an amazing work. But yea, not better or worse. It just fits closest to the beliefs I've had and either couldn't put a name to or put the wrong name to. |

I like Reform Judaism because it is extremely logical, socially liberal, allows me to feel close to a higher power, and meshes well with my pre-existing political beliefs.

I'll take that to mean you have researched all world religions from an objective point of view, Mr. Emu?
