If there was a draft now, would you go, or let your children go?
If not, how would you avoid it?

Doesnt matter if I believed if the war was right or wrong, If my country asked for my help and service I would give it.

I would, why not?
I may not like war, and would definetly prefer a defensive war, but hey, this is America. |

Even if they could draft females, I'm undraftable.
Can't do much other than deskwork when you can't do contact sports... (one of the many good things that came from my back surgery )Even if I was healed with magic or something, I still wouldn't go. I believe all war is wrong. I don't have kids, but if they tried to draft my feathered baby there'd be some butt-kicking going on. ![]() |

I'm not American, but I can't imagine Marie wanting to let either of our sons to be 'drafted' - she hardly lets them go on a train without having sleepless nights!

Had I children I'd strongly dissuade them, on moral principle. But they'd be sovereign moral entities and I wouldn't be able to lock them in the cellar for long.

I would go, because I'm strongly patriotic, and I think that if we embroiled in a war so bad, yet so necessary to fight, that we did reinstate the draft, it would be a much worse thing to dodge it than to fight a war.

If and when my son is drafted, I will do whatever I can to keep him out of the service. Of course, I blame all those who voted for Shrub for bringing us to this juncture.

Choose to go??? Well, I guess there is a choice...go or go to prison. Whether one agrees with the war or not (which I definitely don't) the fact of the matter is that as a U.S. citizen and to enjoy what you have, the service of the country is sometimes required even of those who might not like it...it is DUTY. I am actually a proponent of making women subject to the draft and also of making it a requirement of ALL able bodied citizens of the U.S. to serve at least 2 years in military service to the country. Other countries do that...why not us? If anything service in the military teaches quite a bit to our young...responsibility, courage, strength of character, valuable skills, maturity, sense of duty, respect,...just to name a few. I would not trade my time in service for anything, and if given the opportunity and it were feasible at this time (though I may be over age limit now) I would go back in in a heartbeat.
