"He who seeks revenge, should dig two graves."
How many times have you heard: " I can't give in. It's not because I don't want peace. It's the principle of the matter." "My ego isn't involved at all. I have to teach this person a lesson." "For my sake, I would just let it go, but if I don't put my foot down, this person won't treat others with respect." And..." I have a principle. I don't forgive someone unless he apologizes in a formal manner. Just saying " I'm sorry, isn't sufficient for me." So beloved, what do you think of these statements?

What do I think of these statements? I think you have been talking to my soon to be ex-husband. I actually hear that stuff all the time. To me it is showing an unbelievable ability to not let things go and move one...to harbor resentment and rage and anger which is a very unhealthy thing to do...especially in a relationship with someone who is very laid back and just wants to let bad stuff in the past stay there...in the past.

I believe that seeking revenge is wrong, because if you use evil it will use you. I think the quote means that in taking revenge, you are also killing the good in yourself, so it would be as if you were dead already.

Revenge has its place. This is just from my personal interpretation of the threefold law, however. It is an extreme but a necessity at times.

The Bible is clear on the subject of revenge. I believe it instructs us not to take our own revenge, but to leave it in God's hands. Turn the other cheek i guess...

I suppose this could be considered revenge of sorts...I like to think of it more as hurrying karma. I had my home burglarized some months ago and aside from the fact that I had blessed my entire home with a protection spell, I didn't know at the time the person who did it. So I did a ritual in which I asked that the culprit become known and feel the effects of the crime they commited. Two days later it had come out who it was that robbed me and that the day after my ritual his home was burglarized as well. Talk about appropriate irony
