There is a rather loud, obnoxious woman in this office. She is 50 or 55, a chain smoker, and has that hair colour that I've never seen before in nature. She made a serious effort to get my document control girl (an old friend of mine) fired last year. She is also a big fan of tattoos.
Today, being casual Friday and all, she wore a low cut shirt that showed off her cleavage. Unfortunately. Anyway, she has the word "Serendipity" tattooed across the twins. In the coffee room, one of the new girls was asking her why, while I was pouring myself a cup of the worst coffee on earth. She said "Well, I'm a very serene person, so I thought that would always remind me to act calmly." Being an idiot, I immediately piped up and pointed out the word she meant was 'serenity'. I explained that by tattooing 'serendipity' across her boobs, she was in essence stating that it was lucky she got those boobs to offset her personality. I then mentioned that the tattoo was permanent, so lots of people would have the opportunity to see exactly how bright she is. Guess who doesn't love me anymore. At least she put a sweater on and covered up those wrinkly meat bags. To be honest, if she hadn't tried to jerk my friend around, I probably wouldn't have said a word. Now I feel bad, though. It's not her fault she's stupid. Does doing this make me a bad person? |

Worry less about whether you are a "bad" person and simply concern yourself with who you are. Bad? Good? Whatever. Needless labels.

She tried to get your friend fired, you pointed out a very dumb decision she made. There is really no reason to feel bad, or feel any sympathy towards her as she was clearly not smart enough to double check the definition of a word before getting inked. You may have bruised her ego, but I see it as a reasonable trade off considering she tried to get someone who works under you, who also happens to be a friend of yours, fired.

Well... whew, hew, hoo!
I'm pretty sure you're most likly a bad person, but this is probably not the only reason for it. I'm working on a list. Contact me tomorrow for the first draft. I should have the initial list of reasons complete -- if I can get the sorting function to work properly on my software. I like my data to be organized. |
