Believe has nothing to do with it. One side of the brain controls somethings, while the other side controls the others. If a person's corpus callosum is severed, if they cover if forget which eye it is they can see an object, but they cannot tell you what it is. Also of interest, if someone has to have one side of there brain removed, the remaining side will adapt and take over for the functions of the missing side.

But if you add each separate category together, you get a rough indication of how much of the 'right' or 'left' brain you're using. That's all he meant.
