Christians debating scripture among themselves? Even moreso, when the participants have neither the education, articulation, nor charismatic nature to carry the conversation with any elegance that bystanders might gain some pearl of wisdom from the whole mess.
I tried to follow some internal "scriptural debates" and WOW, what a waste of time. Person A:Here this verse to the power of ten. Person B: No try this Romans says this, and add a dash of James 2. Person C:Ahh my friends, you misunderstand... You see the toe of Judas had a secret inscription about a verse in the Book of Mathew chapter 2. Person A:NO! what version are you using? You know it is the wrong one! ![]() |

I find it one of the more interesting of spectator threads, especially when, knowing nothing of the text study, I can agree with one side or another.

I avert my gaze from such discussions. They might as well be discussing advanced
quantum laser calculus of brane gravity....I ain't gonna understand or care.

I have a friend who was once a Catholic abbot (can't remember the specific order) who has a doctorate in theology. I once watched an evangelical Christian woman try to take him to task for becoming a Buddhist. She was unaware of his prior Christian history, and tried to instruct him on Christian doctrine. I wish I'd had a video camera that day.

I find it's rather like two people discussing magic spells from the Harry Potter books, except less consistent and logical.

I quite like it. It's good to see how Christians can each have a different take on Scripture and how it should be interpreted. More so to see Liberal Christians not saying all homosexuals should burn in Hell.
It shows how not all Christians are blind and only follow what they have been told, as many from certain Christian sites seem to present themselves.
