Are notions of masculinity changing? What does it mean these days to be a man?

In my opinion,
To share all responsibilities with your partner. To be involved and available to your family, don't just be the bread winner, you don't even have to be the bread winner. Just be there for your significant other and your family on all levels. Faust.

Does the media support your view of masculinity, or does the media generally support some other view of masculinity?

Whatever happened to the notion that men should be tight-lipped stoics? Is that still around, or has it gone by the wayside?

[quote=Sunstone]Are notions of masculinity changing? What does it mean these days to be a man?[/QUOTE
Notions of both masculinity and femininity have changed drastically in mylifetime. There's the worn out joke of 'Those were the days - when men were men and women were damned glad of it!' My father did not know where he could find a cup and saucer in the kitchen until the day he retired. He looked after family finances,he was the Earner. My mother cooked, cleaned and chose the plants that my father would plant - the gardening was his domain, as was cleaning and maintaining the car. These were very 'well defined rules' - I am not implying that I think they should be reintroduced into society. I think modern man is roughly 'equal' in his 'family duties' to his wife. To be a man is merely to be half of a couple (unless, of course, he remains single) ![]()

Am I the only one who doesn't think things have changed? For a long time, my now-fiance wouldn't tell me when he was worried or upset because he was always told to "suck it up" and "take it like a man." Stay-at-home dads have become a little more common than they used to, but a lot of people still are uncomfortable with the idea.
