Are adults as much affected by peer pressure as teens are? How many of our decisions are made because of peer pressure? What can we do about it? Can peer pressure be a good thing?

Of course adults are subject to peer pressure. They possibly deal with it a bit better (because of experience) than do young people, but they are just as subject to it as young people. We are social animals, and learning how to deal with each other, and with peer pressure, is crucial to maturity, and to becoming a fully functioning adult.

Parents are especially subjected to peer pressure.
When we go into a store or any public place with our children we worry about how other parents and adults see us as parents if our children misbehave. We feel embarrassed and frustrated when our children throw a temper tantrum when they can't have what they want. Some of us (myself especially) look at other adults as people to look up to, people to despise, and people to judge. If an adult handles a situation in a way that we do not agree with or understand, we are prone to judging that person. Definitely, peer pressure does exist for adults. FBI

Sure I believe adults are just as capable of succumbing to peer pressure. For a lot of people, it's all about "keeping up with the Jonses". A lot of adults have to have the same kind of house, car, clothes, etc. as their neighbors.

I'm an oddball. Considering the fact that I'm a teenager, I've actually encountered a very sparse amount of peer pressure... and even when I do, it's usually more like good advice. I'm pretty lucky, I've got awesome friends!
