If we were to discover life elsewhere in the Universe, do you think we would try to contact them? Should we contact them? How would you handle it?

Some UFO researchers say we have already made contact but that we are not supposed to know that we made contact.

I think we should try to contact them; I think we should give them a round trip of the world. We can explain that politicians are in fact patients suffering from psychiactric disorders, Fast food is there for to cater for those who wish to die young, and what about those smoking white sticks some people have between their lips? 'Oh, don't worry about those, that's just a way of inducing cremation (cost effective alternative).

Speaking of fast food, do you think we could interest them in McDonalds' franchises?
The first McDonalds on Jupiter or in another galaxy. The menu would include a McSpace Burger. We don't have a good track history with getting along with different cultures, it would be interesting to see how we would handle E.T.s. |

We probably wouldn't contact other sentient life until we established the threat it posed. We would encounter something completely different from what we have experienced previously. Expecting a friendly welcome isn't very clever if human nature is anything to go on.

If contact didn't happen already, I think it would be the most significant event of human history.

I'm sure we would be very curious and interested in everything about these beings. It's too bad we don't approach the different cultures right here on Earth with the same attitude. How different this planet would be if we met everyone with eagerness to learn.

I don't think we should be doing space exploration and if we did find life, I don't think we should contact it. My first point is based on the thought that we should be spending the money on things on earth, such as helping feed the poor, educating those who never had the opportunity for schooling, distributing low-cost AIDS drugs, etc.
I don't think we should even think about interacting with other forms of life until we help our fellow humans. I just don't think it's valuable or pertinent. Interesting, sure. Actually, I just read Lightkeeper's post and that kinda sums up how I feel.
