It's very complicated.

For example, biologically I'm a heterosexual male. However, being genderfluid I shift from being male to female, to androgynous and back again quite regularly (might change my gender icon to the mixed thing actually, hmmm). Biologically I stay the same and my sexual preference stays the same, but my identity changes if that makes sense?

What I was saying that is sexual orientation is an entirely different issue from gender identification. I mean, the fact that I'm gay has nothing to do with the fact that I'm a woman, or the fact that I have a penis. All you really need to understand is that sex, gender, and sexual orientation are entirely different things, and don't really have much of a bearing on each other.

But then by adopting (or shifting) to the Female gender, wouldn't that then make you, say... Homosexual since your Biological preference (Females) is intact whilst your Gender changes to female? So that would make you infact, a sexual preference shifter as well?

Er...eir sexual preference ("I like chicks") would remain the same, but eir sexual orientation ("I am a chick who likes chicks") would change.

Also, it's really confusing when you use terms like "the female gender". Female generally refers to sex, not gender.

e: It seems Shyanekh used male and female as gender terms as well. It really helps to make things clear by distinguishing between sex-based terms (male, female, intersexed, etc) and gender terms (man, woman, hijra, two-spirit, etc).

Like KatNotKathy said, my sexual preference remains the same, but I guess in terms of identity at least I would count as lesbian yes.

Ah right, so yeah basically you'd have the same preference, it's just your orientation would change because your Gender has changed. So if that's the case, then you;re more than just a gender shifter but you're also an orientation shifter too, right?

Hmm. I personally see "man" and "woman", and "male" and "female" as equally sex- or gender-based. For instance, I take the word "man" to mean "an adult male person".

I think that generally, I'll use similar terms for either sex or gender, and try to make it clear by context which one I'm referring to.
