Hard/Soft determinism (God, science)

A recent debate by Lycan caused (lol ) me to write this thread. He put forth the idea that God omniscience, proves determinism and therefore free will is an illusion. However, for his argument to hold, it would require God's omniscience to prove that hard determinism existed as opposed to soft determinism which I don't think it does. Regardless it sparked my interest in opening some debate on the topic.

Firstly I have only recently be exposed to the idea of soft determinism and so whilst I know its conclusion, that determinism and free will can both exist, I don't understand how it reaches this conclusion no matter how many essays on the subject I read. I feel like I must be missing something so if anyone could do a sort of "soft determinism for dummies" then I would be most grateful .

Also I have to ask, which one do you think is more logical? They both use the same premises so I don't see how there could still be disagreement over which one is correct.
