Is there anything about love that cannot in the end be reduced to mechanical, electrical and neurochemical processes? If so, what is it?

Maybe if you let your mind wander past the borders of science God and all that has something to do with it?

Personally I view love just like any other emotion: as a "message" from our subconscious mind to our conscious mind meant to act as a guide for us as our subconscious mind is aware of many more things than our conscious mind is. I also view it as a tool that can be utilized either to help or hinder ourselves and others depending on its use. Finally I also view it as one aspect of The Force(s) just as I do all other emotions. The way I see it, if it weren't part of The Force(s) then we would not be able to feel it or even conceive of it as it also would not be part of us.

Sexual attraction is nothing more than chemistry, but I wouldn't say the same about love.

The original attraction is chemistry but love for me is not anything chemical.
Love is learned after spending many years with a person. ex children do not always love there parents or siblings. Love is not emotional based but can cause many emotions ex your spouse is late coming home and this causes fear they might be hurt. Love can stay even after the person is gone. ex Our love for the person becomes stronger a lot of times after the person dies. Love can be between speices. ex People love there pets to the point of going into depression when they pass. I know of no chemistry that would make us love an animal.

I always defer to the Australians in all matters of philosophy
![]() I'm not undervaluing what we've got when I say That given the role chaos inevitably plays in the inherently flawed notion of "fate" It's obtuse to deduce that I've found my soul mate at the age of seventeen It's just mathematically unlikely that at a university in Perth I happened to stumble on the one girl on Earth specifically designed for me And if I may conjecture a further objection, love is nothing to do with destined perfection The connection is strengthened, the affection simply grows over time Like a flower, or a mushroom, or a guinea pig, or a vine, or a sponge, or bigotry ... or a banana And love is made more powerful by the ongoing drama of shared experience And the synergy of a kind of symbiotic empathy or... something YouTube - Tim Minchin - If I Didn't Have You

Love is a message from one person to another. Is the source of that message solely the mind?

To reduce love, or anything else, to mere physical processes, is to ignore everything we know about shaping the world according to wishful fantasies.
