Conjugal familes, (commonly called nuclear families) includes only the husband, the wife, and unmarried children who are not of age.

Complex family is a generic term for any family structure involving more than two adults.

Historically families were complex rather than conjugal. I think replacing grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins with day care providers, school teachers and arcade attendants is what is really wrong in today's society.

I grew up on a ranch, a very large complex family unit made up of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and of course, Dad. (Mom died when I was very young)

As such, I never felt I missed out on anything. I regret leaving the ranch and raising my children away from that experience.
