Are there ethical reasons for human cloning? Are there benefits in cloning? What do you see in the future regarding cloning? How do you think clones would fit into society?

I can't say I'm qualified on all those questions, but I do have to say that I'm a little leary of cloning humans. Organs and the like? Yeah, I can sign onto that.
However, cloning humans...there is the whole issue that we are probably bypassing nature too far. Then there's the fact that it deals a blow to individuality (it would be an interesting scenario on the "nature vs. nurture" issue, though lol). What makes me most nervous is what it would do to the value of a human being. A clone may not be regarded as fully human, especially by some religious groups. I could very well see a lot of people maltreating them, or even worse, considering them best for those dangerous jobs that nobody wants...in a sense disposable. Those things make me more than a tad leary of it.

The only way to find out is to clone a human.
People are worried that God might become obsolete. Somehow, I don't think God ever worries about that! BTW, did you ever realize that test tube babies have a womb with a view?

the current problem with cloning is that it is very risky.. failure rates of 80-90% are not uncommon. Most clones die from problems in development in the womb. Surviving clones suffer other little studied (as we have relitively few clones) problems as they age.
Right now its too big a risk. wa:do

I believe there's too much potential for abuse and not much that we'd get out of it. Stick with stem cells, as far as I'm concerned.
