2:10 PM: Israeli Attorney General Menachem Mazuz has reversed his predecessor's policy on same-sex unions, declaring that gay couples should be recognized by the state and given the same legal standing as common-law spouses in financial concerns such as taxation and inheritance.

And the best part is it really doesn't fall into the realm of the religious establishment of marriage, simply the secular legal aspects of it, so hopefully the Orthodox won't get too upset.
