Is There A Complete Truth?
There are two kinds of TRUTH, Personal TRUTHs and Universal TRUTHs. I think the combining of these two TRUTHs to make an existence complete depends on how important TRUTH is for the individual and how much effort they make in the pursuit of it. |

First of all, a good deal of confusion arises due to the fact that "truth" is used in two distinct ways: (a) to refer to actuality, and (b) to refer to statements about actuality.
If we limit the discussion to truth-statements, such statements, like so-called scientific laws, are man-made and, therefore, necessarily approximate, so "complete truth" is unachievable beyond a priori deductions. That does not men, however, that all truth-statments are created equal. Physicists believe, for example, that quantum physics is a more "comlete truth" than that represented by the Bohr model. Assuming that "God(s) exist" is a proposition, "yes" or "no" are approprate answers, and one will be "true" to the extent that the other is "false". Theism or atheism represent more complete truth statements to the extent that atheism or theism more accurately describe actuality.

I don't know what, at least when it comes to religion and G-d, there is a universal truth, at least not now. Until G-d comes down and asks everybody to a BBQ i don't think there will be an absoulte truth to that.
Not a very good answer huh? Sorry it's too early to be thinking that deeply i'll have to let it mull around for a while.

I believe that truth is beyond words. Beyond finite understanding. Does this mean it doesn't exist? No, but we as finite beings only know our perceptions, which are not complete truth.

Truth statements can never be more than approximations. So?

I have to agree with Deut here. Complete truth exists, but statements about truth are approximations. "I am six feet tall," is closer to the truth than "I am seventy stories tall."

A truth statement could become exact if, with it, there were given a complete list of exceptions.
I think that there is a complete truth as far as morality is concerned and i think that this can, eventually be found through logic alone.
