I can't believe I never actually started a thread like this before now. I've been meaning to for ages... I searched "Threads started by Nanda," and I can't find one, but if I'm being redundant, I apologize. The hinges on my steel trap are a little rusty.
Alright, let's hear it. Do you think there is such a thing as a "real man?" Does such a person exist? And if so, what is he like? |

A real man is one who makes his own way, an end unto himself. He makes his own purpose in life, he does not require the approval or consent of others. He perceives the world with his own mind and he makes his own judgments. He is selfish, he does not object to aiding others but realizes he has no obligation to do so. Reason is his guide, as it is the only way to measure reality. He doesn't mind helping those who cannot help themselves, but he does mind helping those who can help themselves but choose not too. Above all else, he is not a sheep, he does not blindly follow. These are a few of my ideas of what a man is.

Someone who is both socially responsible and true to themselves.

My Dad is a real man. My grandfathers are real men. My great-grandfathers were real men.
That's about all. I don't trust any other men besides them, ever, except for a precious few. Men are slugs by nature. (Sorry you to all you RF guys who are reading this, but I can't help it if I think so. )

Sure. A real man an is an actual adult human male. At least, that's how I see it.

I was a slug before I became a real man. You don't just wake up on your 18th birthday and instantly become this icon of a person.
