I read this in the Jakarta Post (Indonesia) and wanted to open discussion and a public opinion poll on this:

In my personal opinion it is difficult to describe a terrorist as being part of any religion which advocates policies against harming others. It seems to me that they are taking parts of a religion which help their cause whilst ignoring or twisting others. Therefore, just as I would describe other individuals who hold a pick 'n' mix belief system, such as myself, it would not be fair to associate them with a specific religion.

Israeli Secret Service bomb the Shem-Tov synagogue in Iraq, killing three worshippers.

In these two examples, I don't see terrorists being Muslims.

This doesn't really deserve a response but I've got a big mouth and itchy fingers.

Racist bull like this is much more of a problem than muslim terrorists. This crap encourages terrorist and reactionary politics and actions. What about Hindu people burning mosques in India? Or Catholic bombings by the IRA? The KKK? FFS the state of Israel could be easily viewed as a terrorist organization. Wetsern sanctions? Thirld world debt? The list is very long.

Can we work to get a common definition for terrorist so we can all be assured we are speaking of the same thing. For instance charateristics and key componets to fit in the realm of a terrorist. I have some ideas on it but its your thread and I didn't want to steal your thunder.
