yesterday, a friend of mine was complaining that he had to much alcohol this weekend. He drunk so much that he forgot the complete evening. Now I was there that night and I know he had the time of his life. But he forgot! Now he is complaining that it was the most useless night in his entire life, because he forgot it.
So for the sake of rules here, alcohol is bad! It makes you waste your night! Nights you can better use for helping old people and planting trees, taking care of animals etc... ![]() But this thread is not about alcohol, it's about the loss of use if you can't memorize it. For me, the night would not have been lost. At that moment i was having a great time, so well spend! At the moment I am using memories to please me, I also please myself on the moment itself. Only instead of alcohol I am using memories. My friend though still thinks an event is usefull once it's memorized.. Thoughts?

If I have a brilliant idea for a thread on the way home from work today, and plan out every articulate detail of it, but when I get home I forget all about it, is it still a great thread? Perhaps in the car it might have mattered but after I get home I might as well have dwelled on Britney's custody battle.

A thread and an event is not really the same. If you loved thinking about it, then it might not have turned out to be a great thread, but you did have a good time over it. Wouldn't it bother you that whatever you are doing now only matters if you will remember it next week?

I think memories are part of what we enjoy in life and we'd be missing out on alot without them. We use them to relive our best moments.

Perhaps someone brought a camera to the party and can awaken his memory.

Only if you get drunk. And alcohol in moderation is healthy.
