Is there an ideology so silly, stupid, or implausible that no adult would believe it? If so, what is that ideology?
Put a bit differently: Do there seem to you to be any natural limits to what the human brain will believe? Are there ideologies that the brain simply cannot believe true?

I don't think so. It's likely that there will always be someone to believe in even the wildest of ideas.

No because silliness, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Therefore, I don't consider any ideologies to be objectively stupid and so any ideology can seem clever or stupid to anybody.
I believe that this should cause us to be extra careful when it comes to questioning what we believe and that scepticism is the only path that won't lead us astray.

I can only echo the sentiments the others have expressed Dr. Phil.
I am seriously thinking of starting the NEW Revealed Church of the Cosmic Ashtray though. Wanna bet some people sign up?

I doubt there is any limit to gullibility.
It is not just a matter of faiths, it concerns all aspects of life. From Con men... identity theft and Just about every scam invented. Criminals, salesmen, and many founders of religious type sects base their fortunes on the gullibility of others.

![]() My answer is no also. There's nothing to silly. I myself consider even the bizarrest of ideas as possibility, ESPECIALLY when everyone else rejects them en mass as a no-brainer. ummm Ymir.... is the NEW church open to non-smokers? (I occasionally take a "smokin" keyboard solo though... does that count?) ~NEW~ (ps.. did you know that some of the 12 and 13 year olds they're handing out condoms to, STILL BELIEVE there's a Santa Claus, climbing down chimnies... eating millions of cookies in one night... flying around the world on a LITERAL sleigh with LITERAL reigndeer... with a SACK full of free factory made goodies to satisfy all the world? We certainly do "train our children well" in the dept. of critical thinking.. don't we?)

I'd say Wahhabism but sadly there seems to be plenty of so-called "adults" that happily slaughter and oppress others in the name of their ridiculous ideology.

What makes an ideology silly? Can a person be justified in believing a silly ideology? Can a person claim knowledge of a silly ideology?
